“A Piedi Scalzi" - Barefooted - is a modern Oratory Opera, in eight parts, relating to the life and spiritual path of Edith Stein, who became a Discalced Carmelite with the name of Teresa Benedict of the Cross, and died in the Auschwitz Birckenau concentration camp on the 9 August 1942.

Canonized by Pope Jonn Paul II on 11 October 1998, the follwing year she was proclaimed patron saint of Europe together with S. Caterina of Siena and S.Birgit of Sweden.

The Oratory is written for chorus, orchestra, solist and recitative voice, the style of music changes in all the eight sections that illustrate eight relevant phases of the life of Edith Stein.
