Claudio Chieffo, one of the most famous and beloved Italian Christian singers, wrote his first piece of music when he was only fifteen years old, but he did not compose many songs, only 113, because his music Was the result of long meditations and his deep faith. Some of his songs quickly became soon masterpieces in the liturgy, for example “Il seme” (The seed) and “I cieli” (The Heaven) which are frequently used in Italy during the Holy Mass.
His collaboration with the great American artist David Horowitz, who held a concert in his honour the day after his death, in August 2007, at the age of 62, made him well known worldwide, and his last song, “Reina del Paz” (The Queen of Peace), composed after the terrorist attack of Madrid, moved hundreds of thousands of people to tears.
