Film's Description

Armenia bears the mark of God: it is Mount Ararat, a sacred place for Armenians all over the world, which was chosen by the Almighty to become the second cradle of humanity, the site of its rebirth after the Flood.

The film’s main theme is the Armenians’ historical memory: how to live according to their ancestor’s principles and the Christian faith – Armenia was the first Christian nation in the world, since 301 AD – without forgetting who they are and what their faith means.

For 17 centuries, Armenian history was full of upheavals, battles and suffering in the name of faith, not just by individual martyrs, but by the whole Armenian nation.

The film presents testimonies from different people – from young students to a prominent nuclear physicist, from a simple peasant family to a University Rector and to the Catholicos of all Armenians.

In September 2001 the ancient and distinctive country of Armenia celebrated the 1700th anniversary of its adoption of Christianity as its religion. The end of the film presents the celebration in Yerevan attended by Pope John Paul II, numerous guests of different faiths and origins, and the opening of a new temple in the capital of Armenia.
