Famine

Chronicles of National Disaster

1921: Russia is at war, brother kills brother, Red against White, past against future. Hoping this future is the brightest of all possible futures of any state on Earth. War needs money and supplies, world revolution cannot be delayed and it needs money too. Any means becomes acceptable for gaining victory, even genocide and throwing the nation into a flame of devastating famine.

Exposing uncomfortable Truths

Civil war is a complex problem in history of any country torn apart by strife and needs an in-depth series if it is to be understood and analyzed properly. Famine is just one face of this horrible giant-killer that has so many faces. This painful and sad page of history must be memorized and analyzed so that it won’t be repeated. Archive documentary shootings are very helpful in this regard as they speak for themselves.

Civil war is always a national tragedy. Death, famine, diseases, no hope for peaceful coexistence and destroying all that had been created over the preceding centuries. Why would people do it on their own land? To their own nation? In their own country?

The saddest thing about it is that civil war tends to happen with a frightening frequency around the whole world, on any continent. Hatred is a virus that slowly kills the very heart of the nation and of each person within it. The most unscrupulous, treacherous and egoistic persons rise up as if from nowhere and start to rule the feast of blood, torture and suffering. They take what they want and as much as they want and in return give only promises, hollow words that sound trustworthy but with time turn out to be a complete fraud.

People die of hunger, cold and hopelessness. Very few of them are brave enough and have enough will power to go against this bloody war-machine and its traitors. What stops them from uniting their efforts and doing all that is possible to promote peace and happiness?

We invite co-producers to join us in this project, the result of which may be either a film about the famine of 1921-23 and 1932-33 or a whole serial on the problem of Civil War in Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917.

Holodomor: Man-made famine

Holodomor (literally “murder through hunger”) has happened twice in the history of Soviet Russia: 1921-23 and 1932-33. Since secret archives were opened over the last 20 years, historians know that in both cases the famines were caused by decrees of Lenin and Stalin respectively. In the 1930s the formal aim of the mass requisitioning of all crops and cattle was the attempt to build a system of ...

Suppression, Red Terror, Fear as a Ruling Factor

Apart from persecution, physical execution, and mass murder of those who did not agree with the Red Terror policy, the new government introduced very strict limits on society, class segregation and psychological oppression. Free trade and entrepreneurship was forbidden by a special decree in 1918, as a result all kinds of goods totally disappeared from the market, people lacked most of the thin...
